3 Credit Hours | $45.00 | Author: Gina Scarano-Osika, Ph.D.
Skill Level: Advanced

Puberty is a time of rapid development, growth, and weight gain among young females. This may result in low self-esteem, making young adults more prone to body image disturbance and the beginnings of Anorexia. This course will discuss the etiology of Anorexia from a developmental perspective. The diagnostic criterion of Anorexia and Subclinical Anorexia will be reviewed along with the Body Mass Index and Body Fat Percentage to assist with screening, accurate diagnosis and discharge planning. A multidisciplinary treatment approach and eclectic psychotherapeutic approaches will be discussed in order to improve caloric intake, increase body esteem, and strengthen stress management skills.
